USS Cairo
restored wreck located at the Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
The USS Cairo was a Union river gunboat that was sunk in the Yazoo River by an electrically-detonated mine—the first ship so sunk in history.
The wreck was found and raised in the 1960s, and is now on display under a huge outdoor tent.
